Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Victoria Bataclan has advised the Philippine government to withhold unnecessary travel to Belgium following the terror attacks in Brussels that killed dozens.
“My recommendation is essentially of course, not to or to withhold really travels that are absolutely unnecessary to Belgium. The main airport is still very much closed until tomorrow,” she said on Mornings @ ANC Wednesday.
Bataclan said Belgium is facing a total lockdown, with classes and all forms of transportation suspended, as authorities believe there is still imminent danger.
“There’s still imminent danger that authorities believe is very much around in Belgium, this covers the whole country. And that means that the military of this country is being mobilized as well to assist in preventing further atrocities, attacks that may still be planned,” she said.
Meanwhile, she reiterated no Filipinos were reported injured or killed in the Brussel bombings, although they are still waiting for the official report of the casualties’ identification that may be released anytime soon.
“Thank God we don’t have any reports as of now from official and other sources of anybody that has been harmed, so we hope it will continue to be that way. There is no official list yet of the number, as well as the identities and the nationalities of those who were killed and those who were injured,” she said.
