MANILA – Vice-presidential candidate and Senator Chiz Escudero on Sunday bared his proposed programs for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) during ABS-CBN’s “Harapan ng Bise.”
Escudero said the Gobyernong May Puso led by his running mate, Senator Grace Poe, will offer OFWs “portable” health benefits under the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
“Ibig sabihin pwede po silang magpagamot, sagot ng gobyerno, saan mang bansa sila matatagpuan,” he explained.
“Maliit na sukli po namin ito sa inyo sa laki ng inyong pinapadala.”
The independent candidate added that they will allot P100 billion to assist migrant workers in their repatriation, pension and in instances where blood money is demanded.
Escudero also promised that they will allot P1 billion for the purchase of modern health equipment in every province.
The Poe government will also expand the coverage of PhilHealth coverage and ensure zero hospital billing for indigent members.
Escudero also promised to offer free tuition in all state colleges and universities, and develop a “study now, pay later” program in private schools.
He also vowed to curb bureaucracy to encourage business investments while lowering tax rates.
