MANILA – Commissioner Christian Robert Lim of the Commission on Elections warned citizens from sharing false information regarding ballots from the overseas voting that they may be risking committing an election offense.
Lim said sharing the pictures may risk a case though merely “liking” won’t merit a case.
“Kasi nakalagay spreading false information. We’ve been meeting with the political parties. For them, it’s a non-issue. They know it’s false. Ang sa amin, we keep the political parties really updated on the developments so di sila alarmed on this,” Lim explained.
Lim added, “Nakita ko yung balota may yellow shade yung kay Mar Roxas at Leni Robredo, yun tiningan ko di ba may box for the signature sa taas noon dapat may ballot ID saka seal ng Pilipinas na wala. In fact, we’ve been posting in the website the template of the ballot. Sa akin, we can do as much we could to inform or dispel but sa akin, kung kalaban mo 100, 1 ka lang mahirap mo talaga maabutan,” he said.
Lim said the administration party has already complained to the en banc about the pictures showing the names of administration candidates Roxas and Robredo highlighted on social media.
“The LP has written to the en banc complaining na sinisraan daw sila sa mga ito. If you recall, sinasabi ni Commissioner Art Lim pwedeng election offense yan naka-identify pangalan sa Facebook,” he said.
