MANILA – Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz thanked all the moviegoers who braved the rains during the opening day of their reunion movie, “Finally Found Someone.”
According to Star Cinema, the movie earned P20 million on its opening day on Wednesday.
“Siyempre po we feel blessed. Kahit na bumabagyo, actually worried po ako kasi ang lakas nga ng ulan so mas safety nila ‘yung iisipin mo, pero may mga pumupunta pa rin talaga, so thankful kami sa inyo. Maraming, maraming salamat po,” Geronimo said in an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Gretchen Fullido.
Cruz, on the other hand, is happy with the feedback they are receiving so far.
“Iyon lagi ang mystery kapag ipapalabas ang pelikula. Hindi mo talaga alam kung ano ang magiging epekto. Ako, never ako naging confident sa magiging reception ng tao. I can be confident doon sa quality, doon sa ginawa namin na produkto. Pero as to kung paano tatanggapin, iyon ang laging mystery para sa akin,” he said.
Asked if they were nervous prior to their movie’s release, Geronimo said: “Ako, hindi naman sobrang tensyonado. Dumating na kasi ako sa point na mas naniniwala ako sa quality ng pelikula. Kung paano tatanggapin ng mga tao, bonus na lang ‘yun.”
Both likewise expressed their confidence in the movie which they worked hard on for a couple of months.
“Nakakatulog naman ako nang mahimbing knowing na maganda ‘yung pelikulang mapapanood nila,” Geronimo said.
On Thursday night, Geronimo and Cruz watched the last full show of “Finally Found Someone” at a mall in Quezon City unannounced. They also joined their fans at a block screening of their movie earlier that day.
Explaining why they did this, Cruz said: “Malaking bagay especially doon sa mga sumusuporta sa pelikula namin na kahit na bumabagyo, nagpapakita pa rin sila ng support, lumalabas pa rin ng bahay para pumunta sa mall. I think iyon ang gusto naming sabihin, na nagpapasalamat kami.”
Directed by Theodore Boborol, “Finally Found Someone” tells the story of Aprilyn (Geronimo), who found herself heartbroken after being left at the altar. She later on met Cruz’s character, Raffy, who will “help her find her happy ending.”
Co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, the movie is now on its third day and is currently showing in over 200 cinemas nationwide.
“Finally Found Someone” is the fourth film of Geronimo and Cruz. Other films featuring the tandem include “It Takes a Man and a Woman” (2013), “You Changed My Life” (2009), and “A Very Special Love” (2008), all of which are box office hits.
