TNT KaTropa leaned on Michael Madanly’s hot shooting to get past Phoenix, 124-117, on Friday at the PBA Governors’ Cup in Antipolo.

Syria’s Madanly exploded for 30 points, 24 from the perimeter.

Mychal Ammons dominated the shaded lane and added 22 markers and 18 rebounds to keep the Texters unbeaten in six games.

“We shot the ball well, especially Michael [Madanly], and we made shots break the game open,” said TNT coach Jong Uichico in the PBA website. “And we also played good defense.”

The Texters shot 54 percent from the field while limiting the Fuel Masters to just 46 percent.

Prior to Friday’s game, Phoenix was riding on a two-game win streak. The Fuel Masters fell to 2-4 after losing to the Texters.

TNT blitzed past Phoenix in the third quarter on a 22-6 run. Madanly’s triple early in the payoff period gave TNT its biggest lead 103-77.

Simon Enciso led the Fuel Masters’ fight-back late in the final period, but they eventually ran out of steam.

TNT’s victory spoiled Eugene Phelps game-high 49 points and 18 boards for Phoenix.

Enciso scored 15 of his 17 points during their late hurrah against the KaTropa.
