MANILA – Paulo Avelino revealed he personally recommended Maja Salvador to be his leading lady in their upcoming movie “I’m Drunk I Love You.”
Speaking during the movie’s press conference, Avelino said it’s about time they did a movie together after the success of their TV series “Bridges of Love.”
(Maja and I have never done a movie as a love team. Our last was “Status: It’s Complicated,” but she was paired there with Jake [Cuenca] while I was with Solenn [Heussaff] and Eugene Domingo. It’s nice that many were still waiting for us to be reunited after “Bridges of Love.” This is our offering to those who have been waiting.)
Salvador, however, had a different story about how she got her role in the romantic-comedy film.
After a month, sabi ko ‘Ano pong balita sa I’m Drunk I Love You?’ Sabi naka-hold, wait lang, parang may iba,” she said.
(I didn’t know that Paulo recommended me. My handler told me that a script was going to be sent. I read it and liked it and I said I would do it. But after a month I asked, what’s the news on the movie? They said it was on hold and they might get someone else.)
Despite this, Salvador told her handler that she would still love to do the movie if they decided to finally get her.
Bumalik so kung para sayo, para sayo,” she said.
(I told my handler if they get me, let’s still do the movie. If they decide not to get me, then the movie was not meant for me. My handler agreed to this even if we got hurt that we were not the first choice. But they got back to me, so this movie was really meant for me.)
Salvador said what’s important is she and Avelino were able finish the movie especially for their supporters.
Directed by JP Habac, “I’m Drunk, I Love You” narrates the story of guy who has been hiding his feelings for his best friend.
It will open in theaters on February 15.
