The PBA Philippine Cup is just two weeks away and Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone likes what he sees in his roster so far.
They have a couple of new guys suiting up for the upcoming season: Jett Manuel, Ginebra’s first-round pick in the recent PBA Draft; and Art dela Cruz, who has recovered from a ruptured Achilles.
But there’s one face that Cone might miss in the season-opening conference.
According to Cone, power forward Joe Devance has undergone a long-delayed surgery and will likely be out of action for the next three months.
Devance went under the knife to remove a bunion from his left foot that had him struggling in the past conferences.
“The only thing that concerns us right now is the injury of Joe Devance,” Cone said during Ginebra’s recent thanksgiving party.
“He finally had surgery, much needed after three years.”
“He’s gonna be out about three months, so he might miss most if not all of the All-Filipino (Conference),” Cone said.
Another Ginebra player who has undergone surgery immediately after the Governors’ Cup is LA Tenorio, who had a minor operation to remove bone spurs from his elbow.
“He’s fine. He’s good,” Cone said of Tenorio. “When he had surgery, the doctors said he would only be out reght to nine days. So it’s already been a month after his surgery.”
“He’s back in practice shooting the ball well. We don’t worry about LA, he’s the iron man, he never misses a game.”
