MANILA — K-pop group Momoland's hit song "Bboom Bboom" owes its popularity in the country to a viral dance craze.
But Marlo Mortel, who admits he isn't confident with his dancing skills, decided to jump on the bandwagon through something he's more comfortable with — singing.
On Tuesday, Mortel posted on his social media accounts an acoustic cover of "Bboom Bboom," with lyrics translated in English.
Mortel's cover on Facebook has earned more than 1,000 reactions and shares. It has also been viewed over 31,000 times on Instagram.
In an interview with "Umagang Kay Ganda," Mortel revealed he wrote the English lyrics himself by researching what the Korean lyrics meant and editing it to fit the tune of the song.
"Kasi laging sinasayaw 'to ng friends ko eh bilang hindi ako dancer so napag-isipan ko na ba't di ko siya i-translate sa English," he said.
"Naghanap ako ng translations sa internet then in-edit ko para magkasya sa song, then ginawa ko siyang acoustic."
